FAQ

Does it back up automatically?

No. There's no sync or backup app for your computer or phone. You choose what to keep and upload it in your browser, on a computer or a phone; a large upload that gets interrupted picks up where it stopped.

Can I view my photos on the site?

No. bkpdrive doesn't show previews of photos or videos; download a file to open it.

Do I get back the exact file?

Yes. Whether it's a RAW photo, a PSD or a video master, what you download is the exact file you uploaded.

How big can a file be?

Up to 10 GB per file on the free plan, and up to 100 GB per file once you buy space: room for long videos and large compressed files. To keep an old drive, copy the files off it rather than imaging the whole drive into one file. For large files, download with Chrome or Edge on a computer.

How long does a big upload take?

It depends on your upload bandwidth and how many files you have. At an upload speed of 100 Mbps, sending 100 GB takes a little over 2 hours on its own, and it usually takes longer in practice; many small files, such as photos, take longer still. Keep the browser tab open while it uploads; if it gets interrupted, you can resume instead of starting over.

I already use a backup app or an external drive. Why this?

A backup app copies the computer you work on, automatically, and an external drive usually sits in the same place as that computer. bkpdrive holds the files you choose to upload, such as finished work or the files from an old drive you're retiring, somewhere other than your home or office. They work together.

Can I store my clients' files?

Yes. The rights stay with you and your client; we process files only to provide the service to you (Terms §7).

Is it really free?

Yes. Every account starts with 100 GB free, no credit card required. Files on the free plan can be up to 10 GB each.

What if I buy space and it isn't right for me?

Within 30 days of payment you can get a full refund, no questions asked: open the Capacity page in the app, find the purchase under Purchases and choose Request refund, or email contact@bkpdrive.com. If your usage is more than what would remain after the refund, first free up the difference by moving files to the archive or deleting them permanently; for a team purchase, first take the capacity back from your teams. If any capacity from a purchase has been gifted to another account and the gift has been accepted, that purchase can no longer be refunded. Details in Terms §10.
